Leftoff

Privacy Policy

Effective 1 October 2026

The short version

  • There is no account. Your library, watch history, ratings, notes, lists and settings are stored only on your device. We never receive them.
  • To show title information, the app asks TVmaze and our own server for show and film data. Those requests contain what you searched for and your IP address, nothing about your viewing history.
  • If you don't have Premium, Google AdMob shows ads and may use your device's advertising identifier, with your permission where the law or your phone requires it.
  • Purchases go through Apple or Google. RevenueCat helps us check whether Premium is active, using an anonymous ID.
  • We don't sell your data, and you can delete everything from Settings › Your data.

1. Who we are

Leftoff is a TV and film tracking app for iOS and Android, made by Kerem, an independent developer (“we”, “us”). For the purposes of the EU and UK General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and Türkiye's Personal Data Protection Law No. 6698 (KVKK), we are the data controller for the limited processing described here. You can reach us at support@leftoff.keremka.com.

2. Data that stays on your device

Leftoff works without an account. Everything you put into the app is saved in a database on your phone:

  • your library and the status of each title (watching, completed, on hold, dropped)
  • episodes and films you've marked as watched, with dates and rewatches
  • where you left off, including timestamps and the notes you add
  • ratings, personal notes, lists and your Watchlist
  • the genres and titles you picked during setup, and your settings

None of this is sent to us or to any other service. We have no server copy and can't see it. If your phone's own backup is turned on (iCloud Backup or Android backup), Apple or Google may include the app's data in that backup under their terms.

3. Show and film information

Posters, episode lists, air dates and descriptions come from public databases. To fetch them, the app makes these requests:

ServiceWhat it receivesWhy
TVmaze Your search text or a show's ID, your IP address and standard request details. The app connects to TVmaze directly. Show details, seasons, episodes and air dates. See the TVmaze privacy policy.
Our server (Cloudflare Workers) Your search text, a film's ID, the app's language and your IP address. Our server looks up films on TheTVDB and Wikidata on the app's behalf. Your IP address isn't passed on to them. We use it only briefly to limit how many requests one address can make per minute, and we don't store request logs.
Image servers of TVmaze and TheTVDB Your IP address and the image being requested. Loading posters. Images are cached on your device.
YouTube image servers (Google) Your IP address and the thumbnail being requested. Showing trailer thumbnails on a title's page.

Tapping a trailer, “Find trailer” or “Where to watch” opens YouTube or JustWatch in their app or your browser. From then on, their own privacy policies apply.

When you import a file from TV Time, Letterboxd, Trakt or IMDb, the file is read on your device. To match its entries, the app searches for each title by name, year or ID using the same services. The rest of the file's contents never leave your phone.

Our server runs on Cloudflare, which processes network data such as IP addresses to deliver and protect the service, under the Cloudflare privacy policy.

4. Advertising

Leftoff is free and shows ads through Google AdMob. If you have Premium, the app doesn't load the ads SDK and doesn't request ads.

When ads are shown, Google may collect:

  • your device's advertising identifier: the IDFA on iPhone, only if you allow tracking, or the Android advertising ID
  • your IP address and an approximate location derived from it
  • device and app information such as model, operating system, language and app version
  • interactions with ads, such as views and taps, and diagnostic data

Google uses this to serve and measure ads, prevent fraud and, where you've agreed, personalize ads. Learn more in How Google uses information from sites or apps that use its services.

Your consent

  • iPhone: Leftoff asks for permission under Apple's App Tracking Transparency. If you decline, the IDFA isn't shared with Google. You can change this any time in iOS Settings › Privacy & Security › Tracking.
  • EEA, UK and Switzerland: Google's consent form asks whether you agree to personalized ads and related data use. You can change your answer in Settings › Your data › Ad privacy choices in the app.
  • US states with privacy laws: where required, the same menu lets you opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information for targeted advertising.
  • Android: you can delete or reset your advertising ID in your phone's settings.

If you don't consent, you may still see non-personalized ads. These rely on contextual information and may still use limited data for frequency capping, fraud prevention and aggregate reporting. Ad content is limited to a teen rating or lower.

5. Purchases

Premium is sold as a monthly subscription or a one-time lifetime purchase. Payment is handled entirely by Apple (App Store) or Google (Google Play). We never see your card details or your store account.

We use RevenueCat to check and restore your Premium status. RevenueCat receives a random, anonymous app user ID created on your device, the store receipt and transaction details (product, price, currency, dates), and basic device and app information. It doesn't receive your name or email, and it doesn't receive anything from your library. See the RevenueCat privacy policy.

6. Notifications, widgets and files

  • Notifications about new episodes and seasons are scheduled on your device from public air dates. There's no push server and we don't collect a notification token.
  • Widgets read a small summary (titles, progress, small posters) that the app saves in storage shared only with its own widget on your device.
  • Backups and exports are files the app creates on your phone. You choose where they go, for example iCloud Drive, Google Drive or Files. That storage provider's terms apply to them.
  • App ratings: once, after you finish your first show, the app may ask Apple or Google to show their rating prompt. They handle it, and we don't learn whether you rated.

7. Crash and usage reports

Leftoff doesn't include its own analytics or crash-reporting tools. If you've chosen to share analytics with app developers in your phone's settings, Apple or Google may give us anonymous crash reports and aggregate usage statistics, such as how many devices installed the app. These don't identify you.

8. What we don't do

  • We don't sell your personal data.
  • We don't ask for your name, email address, contacts, photos, precise location, camera or microphone.
  • We don't build a profile of you on our servers. Recommendations in the app are calculated on your device.

Where the GDPR or KVKK applies, we rely on:

  • performance of a contract to provide the app's features and Premium;
  • legitimate interests to keep our server working and secure, for example by limiting requests per IP address;
  • consent for personalized advertising and tracking, which you can withdraw at any time;
  • legal obligations where applicable, such as tax records kept by the app stores.

10. How long data is kept

Data on your device stays until you delete it or uninstall the app. Our server keeps no request logs. It caches public film information that isn't linked to you. Google, RevenueCat, Apple and Google Play keep data according to their own policies; for example, purchase records are kept as long as needed to restore purchases and meet legal requirements.

11. Your choices and rights

  • Delete everything: Settings › Your data › Delete all my data removes your library, history, ratings and settings from the device. Uninstalling the app has the same effect.
  • Take your data with you: export it as CSV or JSON in Settings › Import & export.
  • Ads: change your consent in Ad privacy choices, turn off tracking, reset your advertising ID, or get Premium to remove ads.

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete or port your personal data, to object to or restrict its processing, and to withdraw consent. Under KVKK Article 11 you also have the right to learn whether your data is processed and to whom it is transferred. Because we don't hold your app data, most of these rights can be exercised directly in the app. For anything else, email us and we'll answer within 30 days. You can also complain to your data protection authority, such as the Personal Data Protection Authority (KVKK) in Türkiye or your local authority in the EU or UK.

12. International transfers

Google, RevenueCat and Cloudflare may process data in the United States and other countries. They protect transfers with safeguards such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses. If you're in Türkiye, using these services involves transferring data abroad as described in this policy.

13. Children

Leftoff isn't directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect personal data from them. If you believe a child has provided data through the app, contact us.

14. This website

This site uses no cookies, analytics or third-party scripts or fonts. Our hosting provider, Cloudflare, processes your IP address to deliver the pages.

15. Changes

If we change how the app handles data, for example when optional accounts or sync arrive, we'll update this page and the date at the top before the change takes effect. For significant changes we'll also let you know in the app.
